I've made contact with the local trader, recovered supplies, and found enough engineering manuals to start rebuilding. And while that is progress, it also made one thing clear. I need somewhere secure to use them. The next priority is a basic underground bunker, a workshop where I can keep building, even if another migration comes through. Food is also becoming just as urgent. Scavenging is not going to be a long-term solution. Before I can leave the forest, Deepwell Alpha has to stand on its own. I also pushed back into the wasteland and came home with better gear and a pile of electrical and mechanical parts. The wasteland is still dangerous, but better equipment and knowing when to back off made a difference. At this point, survival isn't the problem it used to be. The safe haven has supplies, defenses, farms, and working horde bases in two biomes. What it still doesn't have is a finished Beacon. I've started framing the tower above the main crafting building, and if this place is supposed to guide survivors to safety, it's time it actually looked the part. Black Hollow keeps teaching the same lesson: no plan survives first contact unchanged. Today starts with repairs and reinforcing the weak points before they become bigger problems. After that, it's back into the wasteland. I still need gun parts to finish the turret network, along with more mechanical and electrical components to keep expanding the base. The beacon still stands, and every improvement brings this place one step closer to becoming a refuge someone else might actually survive in. Months after the outbreak, Black Hollow has gone quiet. Survivor camps sit abandoned. The radios are silent. Most days it feels like there's nobody left but the dead. But every now and then I find something that doesn't add up—a building already looted, a campfire where there shouldn't be one, signs that someone passed through not long before I arrived. So instead of settling down, we're going searching. The goal of The Signal is simple: explore Black Hollow, uncover the new 3.0 POIs, and every seven days construct a beacon visible for miles across the wasteland. Towers. Floodlights. Fortresses. Whatever it takes. When the blood moon arrives, we light it up and send another signal into the darkness. Maybe nobody sees the signal. Maybe nobody is left. But if someone is still out there, eventually they'll know they're not alone.
